How to Program the Boat Throttle with PI-800 Software (Golden Motor)
This guide explains how to program the boat throttle using the PI-800 software from Golden Motor. The boat throttle setup is plug-and-play and only requires two parameter changes in the software for it to work correctly with your controller.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Download the PI-800 software
You can find it on the Golden Motor Downloads Page, under the controller programming tools section.
2. Connect your system
Make sure everything is wired correctly and the boat throttle is connected to the controller. Then open the PI-800 software.
3. Establish connection
In the software, connect to your controller. You may need to turn on the battery or key switch to power up the system. Once connected, proceed to change the settings.
4. Change throttle parameters
Go to the Throttle Parameters tab.
Change the throttle type from "Linear" to "Hyperbola".
Scroll down and locate the throttle mode setting.
Change the input type from "Hall Effect Throttle" to "Potentiometer Throttle".
5. Download settings to the controller
Once you have made these two changes, click the Download to Controller button to save the settings.
6. Test the throttle
Turn on the battery.
Push the throttle forward: the motor should spin clockwise.
Pull the throttle backward: the motor should spin in reverse.
When the throttle is centered, the motor should be in neutral.
Your boat throttle should now be fully functional and programmed correctly with your Golden Motor controller. If you experience issues, double-check that the throttle is set to potentiometer mode and the response curve is set to hyperbola.
