The Bafang DPC14, also called the 850C display, is a vertical full-color LCD that measures about 2.3 by 3.6 inches. When you turn it on by holding the power button for a few seconds, you’ll see important information like the time at the top left, the battery level at the top right, and the current speed in the center. The display shows the power output either in watts or amps, and you can switch between these units if you want. Right below the speedometer, the pedal assist level is shown. You can adjust this assist level with the plus and minus buttons; setting it to zero means no pedal assist will activate, and even the throttle won’t engage.

If you press and hold the plus button, it will toggle your bike’s lights on or off, provided your system has lights installed. Holding the minus button for a few seconds activates walk mode, which is handy if you want to push your bike uphill or just need some extra help walking it along.

At the bottom of the screen, you’ll notice six dots representing different information pages: trip distance, odometer, remaining range, time, max speed, and average speed. You can cycle through these by pressing the power button. If you want to reset trip-related data, simply hold both the plus and minus buttons simultaneously for a few seconds, and everything will reset.

To access the menu, double tap the power button quickly. In the menu, you can change the language, switch between metric and imperial units, adjust the brightness from levels one to five, and set the display’s auto-off timer from one to ten minutes or disable it altogether. You can also select whether the speed sensor output is analog or digital, decide how you want the battery level displayed (percentage, voltage, or off), and choose whether the power indicator shows wattage or amps. There are also settings to adjust the clock and set a startup password if you want extra security—just make sure to remember the password!

More advanced settings are accessed by pressing the power button when you see three dots at the bottom of the screen. Here you can fine-tune your wheel size from 16 to 31 inches or enter the exact circumference, set your battery voltage (such as 48 volts), and manage options like a USB charging port and light sensor sensitivity if your bike has those features. You can also set a maximum speed limit, select how many pedal assist levels you want (3, 5, or 9), and review the last ten error codes if you encounter issues. There’s also a factory reset option to restore all settings to default and an information tab that provides details about your bike’s speed, mileage, and battery status.

Overall, the DPC14/850C display is user-friendly and highly customizable, providing you with all the essential information and controls you need to get the most out of your Bafang electric bike.
